There is a lack of supermarkets in some areas of Dubai but this is rapidly changing. The most well-known and prevalent chains are as below:

Choithrams:	Mid-sized covering all household basics, foods and groceries. Large stores with additional items.
Carrefour:	Hypermarkets with a huge range of products.
Lulu Hypermarket:	Hypermarket with a huge range of products.
Geant:	Hypermarket with a huge range of products.
Spinneys:	Small, to mid-sized supermarkets. Known for quality of food items.
UnionCoop:	Hypermarkets that often have large non-food sections.
Waitrose:	Supermarket known for its upmarket quality for its food items.

Carrefour: Mall of the Emirates

Lulu Hypermarket: Adj. Mall of Emirates

 

Bur Dubai/neighbouring areas

Spinneys:  Spinneys Trade Centre Road,  Ramada Spinneys, Mirdiff Spinneys, Oud Metha Spinneys, Bin Sougat Centre Spinneys

Carrefour: Al Shindagha

Choithrams:  Opp. Ramada Hotel, Al Fahidi Street

UnionCoop: Rashidya

In addition to the supermarkets, these areas have a large number of small markets and groceries.

 

Deira

Carrefour: Deira City Centre Mall

Choithrams: Garhoud,  Dubai Tower Al Nasr Square, Hyatt Galleria

Waitrose: Marina Mall

Few small shops and grocers are beginning to open along some of the retail spaces offered at the base of the buildings. However, this is generally scarce and a trip to the supermarkets are necessary.

 

Downtown Burj Dubai

Spinneys: Al Manzil Souq, Souk Al Bahar Spinneys, The Old Town Island , South Ridge Spinneys , Emaar

Waitrose: Dubai Mall

Ample places to buy household and food items in this area from small and large stores.

 

Emirates Hills

Spinneys: The Meadows Village Center, The Meadows Town Center

Choithrams:  Greens,Springs, Lakes

Ample places to buy household and food items in this area from mid sized super market stores.

 

Jumeirah/Satwa

Spinneys: Jumeirah Spinneys, Mercato Spinneys, Mazaya Spinneys

Choithrams: Jumeirah Beach Road, Al Wasl Road opp. Safa Park, Umm Suqiemm

UnionCoop: Satwa, Jumierah, Al Wasl

This area has many large supermarkets mainly along the Jumierah Beach road and Al Wasl Road.
